Today’s Students Using Tomorrow’s Web Technology

Finding Dulcinea sponsored an exciting panel discussion Thursday afternoon revolving around today’s latest advancements in interactive online educational tools and web applications.

The panel consisted of five corporate executives including Ariel Aberg-Riger (Fourth Story Media), Michael Staton (Inigral), Jordan Goldman (Unigo), Kate Hillis (Qwidget) and James Rohrbach, (GulliverGo).

Each company deals with students, education and the different ways they use various Internet applications and programs.

Mark Moran, Founder of Finding Dulcinea, says that keeping up with students and their needs on the Internet is no easy feat. Students want the latest technology, according to Moran. He says that current high school students are losing interest not only in the in the concept of e-mail, but are also easily bored with google as a search tool.

Each corporate executive on the panel gave a brief summary on how their internet product is changing the face of education and educational services on the Internet.

Jordan Goldman along with his team at Unigo says they have created the world’s largest Internet resource for college information using data they compiled from more than 15,000 college students across the country.

Michael Staton with Inigral, says his company specializes in bringing the social web experience to education. His site allows college students to create campus communities through a Facebook application specifically designed to keep up with their busy lives.

Ariel Aberg-Riger describes Fourth Story Media as a company that tells stories in a new interactive way. Fourth Story Media actually invites students to participate and become characters in the books they are already reading.

Kate Hillis is the Co-Founder of Qwidget, another interactive and powerful web application that enables publishers to ask provocative questions next to their posted content. These ongoing discussions bring people together and allows them to relate to one another based on their interests and values.

James Rohrbach is the founder of GulliverGo, the first company to provide significant on-line resources for students who plan to study abroad. This extensive database allows students to pick their study programs, plan their trips and link up with fellow travelers.
